Geoffrey Pike – 1948-2026

It is with great sadness that we announced the passing of Geoff Pike on Tuesday 24th February 2026. Geoff’s outstanding commitment to grassroots football in Dorset spread far and wide, where he served the game in almost every role imaginable. 

He was involved at many clubs such as with Blandford United Youth, Charlton Marshall, Blandford Old Boys, Blandford United, Shaftesbury and Sturminster Newton, giving his time as secretary, manager or player. 

His service to the wider game was equally remarkable. Geoff was Chairman of Dorset County Football Association Council from 1997 to 2002, and Chairman of the Board of Directors from 2002 to 2008 and again from 2012 to 2018, where he remained a highly valued and respected member of the Board. Geoff remained on the Board of Directors from 1999 to 2022. He served on numerous committees over the years, including the disciplinary and governance committee. He was also a member of the Disciplinary and Governance Committees for Dorset FA and was a Life Vice-President of the Association. 

In 2015, Geoff was presented with The FA Long Service Award in recognition of 50 years’ dedicated service to football, an honour richly deserved. He became Chairman in 2012, and proudly returned as President again in 2024. Grassroots football in Dorset has lost one of its great servants. Geoff’s commitment, character and decades of dedication will not be forgotten.
