Jewson Western League – end of season
Arrangements for the end of the season 2025/2026 (updated)
Many people have asked how the season will finish.
Devizes Town have now won the division. Congratulations to them.
Here is our understanding in summary of how promotion and the play-offs will work following recent confirmation from the league.
The club finishing in first place (Devizes Town) will be promoted to step 5, nominally the Western League Premier Division, but could be another league at the same level.
The Clubs finishing in positions 2 to 5 will take part in a play-off. Second will play fifth and third will play fourth. Second and third clubs will play at their home ground. The two winners will play each other in a final, with the winner gaining promotion to step 5. The highest placed club in the league will have home advantage.
The dates for the play offs are – Semi-finals on April 21st/22ndwith the final on Saturday April 25th.
At this stage, the clubs that will now compete for the second promotion place via the playoffs will be Sturminster Newton United, Wells City, Avonmouth, and Bristol Telephones.
With just a few games to go, Stur need to win just one of their two remaining games to secure second place and a home draw against Bristol Telephones. But Wells and Avonmouth are chasing hard, so your support is as ever very welcome!
