Cherries through to 2nd round

Sturminster made their debut in the Industrial Boiler’s Wessex League Cup, progressing through to the second round with a comfortable home win against a spirited Lymington side.

Sturminster made several changes from the team that played in midweek, and it took a while for them to settle against their industrious opponents. Sturminster’s best opportunity came from set pieces, with two headed efforts narrowly missing, so the match was a stalemate at half time. A raft of changes on 55 minutes changed the complexion of the game and it was one of those changes, Elliot Bevis, who was on the end of a flowing move to rifle the ball home. He nearly repeated the trick a few minutes later, however shot wide.

As the game meandered towards it’s conclusion, Lymington applied some pressure but didn’t really trouble the Sturminster goal as the home side progressed through to the second round.
