Big win against Hamble
Sturminster Newton United 2 Hamble Club 1
At the start of the day, Hamble Club were sitting on top of the division ahead of Fareham Town. This was potentially a tough game for the Cherries and one that perhaps in reality we didn’t expect much from.
As the first half drew on, the away side took more control of the game, and whilst Stur made forward moves, they rarely threatened, but they hadn’t let the visitors in either, so that was a positive!
Then on 41 minutes, Moss Jackson managed to scramble the ball over the line for the opening goal of the game, and so Stur went in at half time 1-0 up.
Following the half time break, the visitors kept the pressure on and were rewarded just six minutes into the half with an equaliser, much to most of the disappointment of the watching crowd of 221.
This didn’t last long though, with Adam Hall netting just seven minutes later to take the lead, 2-1.
And despite a few chances either end over the next half hour or so, that’s how it finished, with the Cherrires much the happier side, and the visitors disappointed. 2-1 to Stur in a match where they probably deserved it over the course of the game.
