Home to Hamworthy Rec
Saturday 22nd August 2026
This Saturday sees first play second in the Wessex League Premier Division, as Stur take on Hamworthy Rec at the We Heat South Stadium.
Spurred on by their midweek win at home to Downton, one of the divisions much fancied sides, Stur currently occupy top spot with the visitors in second. With many others in FA Vase action its a good opportunity to put some early distance between the top teams.
Kick Off 3pm at the We Heat South Stadium

Cherries 2 – Hamworthy Rec 2
The We Heat South Stadium hosted an early season top of the table clash
β¦ and the points were shared as Hamworthy Rec equalised late on in an enthralling encounter. An uncharacteristically slow start from The Cherries saw Hamworthy take early control of the game, creating some half-chances that didnβt trouble Theo Crane in the Sturminster goal. As the half wore on, the Cherries found their feet, started to dominate possession, and on 33 minutes were rewarded when an Adam Hall effort was saved, but the recycled possession fell to Sean Hart, who scored via the inside of the post. Hamworthy started the second half brightly, whether the half-time change of personnel changed their shape, or whether Sturminster were slow to start the half, but Aaron Roberts was given too much space on the edge of the box, and he fired a shot that squirmed under Theo Crane to draw Rec level. This buoyed the visitors, who took control of the game and threatened to take the lead. It took a substitution to turn Sturminsterβs fortunes, and that proved decisive as the ball fell to Aaron Lane Leney in the box; he finished neatly to give the Cherries the advantage again. It looked like Sturminster would take all the points; however, in the 88 minute the ball fell to Ollie Davies, whose effort drew Rec level again.
