Vase victory!

Okehampton Argyle 0  Sturminster Newton United 2

A very Autumnal day in Okehampton, Stur managed to win the toss and kick uphill for the first half.  Shortly before the drizzle and the wind got going this was looking to be a good choice as the first half proved tricky to play flowing football.   However on 35 minutes, a goal from Elliot Bevis broke the deadlock and gave the travelling fans something to celebrate over their half time refreshments.
As The Cherries started the second half playing downhill there were some encouraging attacks and just before the hour mark Billy Bright rose like a salmon to head home Stur’s second goal of the game.  A flurry of substitutions followed as manager Nick Squires looked to manage the game to its conclusion, and as the weather worsened it became apparent that Stur would be in the hat on Monday as they created more chances but without adding to the score.

Congratulations to Ben Cowley who was voted man of the match by both the dressing room and the supporters alike!
