THANK YOU, LANEY

After an incredible journey with Sturminster Newton United, today we say goodbye to Aaron Lane-Leney. Over the years, Laney has been a huge part of what has made this club special. From unforgettable moments on the pitch and goals that go down in the clubs history, to his influence in the changing room and the wider SNUFC family — he leaves the club having made a lasting mark. From everyone at Sturminster Newton United FC, thank you for the goals, the memories, the laughs, the commitment and everything you have given to the club. We wish you nothing but the very best for whatever comes next.

Once a Cherry, always a Cherry.

@AaronLeney1 Read manager Nick Squires’ full message below. It’s better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all they say? That’s certainly my feelings now we say goodbye to Laney. Having known Laney for many years playing for different clubs and then having the privilege to manage him, it’s been an honour . During his time at Sturminster he’s not only played a key role on the pitch but also in the changing rooms and within the club itself. His footballing ability is outstanding and socially he’s an absolute joy to be around. Speaking to him and reflecting on the start to this year’s step 5 campaign his awareness of the abilities of those around him in his own position has raised conversations over his future. In his own words “my time at Stur has not only made me a better player but also a better person too” . To be able to shake hands, hug it out and wish him all the very best is nothing short of the perfect ending to a wonderful journey we’ve experienced together. Dorset Premier League, League Cup Champion x2 , Dorset Premier League Champion and who could possibly forget that memorable final penalty in the historic Western League Division One play off final victory against Wells City last season that confirmed our place in step 5 for the first time in the clubs history . I speak on behalf of every person linked to Sturminster Newton United Football Club in thanking Laney for his service to the club and we wish him nothing but happiness and success with where his football journey takes him next . Thankyou AL9
