Cherries 6 Welton Rovers 1

Cherries hit six past Welton.

The first league encounter last weekend was against newly relegated Welton Rovers.  First goal of the season was scored by captain Nick Hewlett, followed by the second from Bevvy.   Half time 2-0 and a few nervous faces in the crowd as Welton threatened the home goal. However early second half goals from Adam Hall and George W Coleman gave us a 4-0 lead before Welton replied with a scrambled goal line shot which a few felt had an element of offside.   The Assistant though was well placed and the goal stood.  The final half hour though was mostly with Stur, with a few chances at the other end, but the game was finally put to bed by strikes from Laney and Buddy during the final ten minutes.   6-1 was the final score and we were top of the table (after one game!).

Captain Nick Hewlett was awarded a gift for scoring the first goal of the season in our brand new goals.
