Stalemate against Hengrove

A crowd of 100 turned out on a pleasant afternoon to urge The Cherries on.

They were treated to a good game of football.   The first half created chances for both sides but with no end product, so the teams went in for the half time break at 0-0, with the home support probably wondering why no goals against the lowest placed team in the division.   The truth was that Hengrove had turned up in good form and had probably put in a decent performance and we needed to press hard to get something from this game.

The second half then started in the worst possible way.  Just two minutes after the start, Hengrove’s Harvey Impey struck a great shot that beat Crane in the home goal to open the scoring.   Not what we anticipated perhaps, but the away team were showing that their position in the table didn’t reflect their ability! Exchanges continued for another 20 minutes with the crowd on the edge of their seats, until Ashley Clarke struck home from close range to level the scores.

More chances were created by both sides, but with Stur looking the more likely to score, but it was not to be, and the game finished with points shared.
